New for 2025: The Yazaroo Type Foundry

Christmas is a quiet time for client work, and a great opportunity to develop new ideas and projects. One that has been on the list for many years is to establish a type foundry.

For those who don’t know a type foundry is the name given to a business that designs fonts for printers – these used to be created in metal with every size and weight individually made and sold as sets, were actual foundry. These days it’s all done digitally… obviously.

So to kick it off here are three fonts designed by Ed Schofield and currently available for purchase at Monotype.

The creation of fonts is an amazing technical exercise in graphic design and it is as tedious as it is time-consuming. We have no intention of creating hundreds of fonts, but it is pretty cool to add a bespoke font to a design project for a client.
