Have you been to the Farnborough Air Show this year?
We had a fantastic day yesterday at Farnborough International Air Show. Our guide was Colin Hall who worked in the industry for many years and was kind enough to show us around and introduce us to a few people.
It was great to see such a wide breadth of businesses both massive and small contributing to the supply chains and research around airspace. Not only from the US, Europe and the far east, but local, home-grown business from Surrey, Hampshire, Dorset and so on, who are vital in global supply chains.
I had a fascinating conversation with a guy who’s Kent-based company, Cranden, makes grinding wheels. Yes, grinding wheels. Diamond coated and very heavy. But essential for making precision parts for Rolls Royce Engines. Amazing.
If you haven’t been this year, and especially if you have never been, I highly recommend it. Maybe see you in two years.
